Welcome! After 23+ years I am changing my fiber focus from raising alpacas & sheep to primarily weaving. The fiber arts are such an important part of the Latvian Culture and it’s important to me to keep this tradition alive. My Dad was born in Latvia in 1938 and ended up in the USA when he was 11 after being caught up in WWII as an orphan. We just recently found our family in Latvia, had the opportunity to go over and meet our family and for this reason, it’s even more important to me to keep Latvian Traditions alive, and for me that is thru the Fiber Arts & Weaving. I’ve been weaving approximately 22 years. When I first started raising alpacas, and knowing they are fiber animals, I figured I should learn how to weave to use their beautiful fiber they so generously donate to us. So I do enjoy weaving with my own farm-raised alpacas & sheep yarns. Not everything is wool. I have a large Latvian/American following and customers who purchase many of my 100% cotton kitchen towels. I also weave with silk, bamboo, chenille and other fibers. I love to be able to carry on a culture.
I try to get as many product to my online store as I can. However many times, as I post pictures on FaceBook & Instagram, i get requests to buy what is in progress before it even comes off the loom. So if you don’t see something you may be looking for on the online store, please contact me. I’d be happy to add you to my “works in progress” list.
I try to keep a variety of items stocked, but kitchen towels are my #1 seller. I also love to have alpaca, or wool, or wool/silk scarves ready to go, throws that can double as a wrap, coasters, table runners, wraps/shawls, & more. Do you have something in mind? I like to make pieces with a modern look to them. There are many weavers who like to make more “primitive” or “rustic” pieces, but I have a more “tailored’ or modern aesthetic. I also try to make one-of-a-kind unique kind pieces. I have a practical side as well, so I also make plenty of utilitarian items such as bread bags, bread cloths, towels, placemats, trivets, etc. If you would like to discuss the possibilities of having a custom piece for yourself or for a gift, shoot me an email.
